Q: WHAT ARE THE OPENING HOURS?
A: Dr. O.P. Bhalla Central Library is open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sundays. The library remain closed on select holidays.. Please see the Holiday list.
Q: WHAT ARE THE TELEPHONE NUMBERS FOR CONTACTING THE LIBRARY?
A: The board number is 91-129-4198100, 4268800 with library extn 8901 & 8902. Alternatively you may call directly Reference Desk at 91-129 -4268901 & 4268902.
Q: WHERE IS THE LIBRARY LOCATED?
A: Dr. O.P. Bhalla Central Library is located in T – Block.
Q: DO I NEED AN APPOINTMENT TO VISIT THE LIBRARY?
A: The library is open to MRIIRS family. No prior appointment is required to visit the library. All visitors are requested to conform to security regulations and produce a valid MRIIRS photo Identification (ID) at the entrance.
Q: WHO ALL CAN BECOME MEMBERS OF THE LIBRARY?
A: All MRIIRS Associates and MRIIRS students by default are members of the Central Library
Q: HOW MANY ITEMS CAN I CHECK OUT AT A TIME?
A: As a student member you can borrow five books for 28 days. As a faculty member you can borrow 12 books for session.
Q: DO I HAVE TO HAVE MY MRIIRS CARD WITH ME TO CHECK OUT MATERIALS?
A: Yes, only you need to present your valid MRIIRS Photo ID for facilitating checkout.
Q: HOW CAN I RENEW THE ITEMS ON MY CARD?
A: You may renew your materials online through the “My Account” button in the Library Catalog (http://libopac.mrei.ac.in). Books charged on your account will be renewed for two weeks from the current due date, or, in the case of an overdue item, two weeks from the date you submit your request. Please make a note of the new due date. Books not in demand may be renewed up to two times. A book which has reservations on it will not be renewed. You may also renew items by calling us at 91-129-4268901 & 8902 or sending us an e-mail at info.library@mriu.edu.in
Q: HOW MUCH ARE OVERDUE FINES?
A: The overdue fine is five rupees per item per day for general books and ten rupees per day for reference books.
Q: WHAT IF I LOSE OR DAMAGE SOMETHING I BORROW?
A: If library material is lost, replacement cost, determined by the library will have to be paid by the member. The library cannot accept replacement items in lieu of lost items. Items returned with damage that warrants withdrawal from the collection will be treated as lost.
Q: CAN I USE THE LIBRARY SERVICES FROM HOME?
A: You can check the library catalog, login your library account online at My Account. You can renew your books and reserve titles online.
Q: WHAT ARE THE OTHER SERVICES I CAN ACCESS USING THE LIBRARY ONLINE SYSTEM?
A: Other than renewing and reserving library material, you can create My List of library material and save it for future use.
Q: HOW ARE THE BOOKS ARRANGED IN THE LIBRARY?
A: The books are shelved according to Dewey Decimal System. You can check the location of the books by the decimal numbers on the spine of the books. If you have trouble finding the books you want, ask a reference librarian for help.
Q: HOW DO I SUBSCRIBE/ UNSUBSCRIBE TO THE MAILING LIST
A: You just need to drop a line at info.library@mriu.edu.in
Q: CAN I BRING MY INTERNET ENABLED DEVICE OR LAPTOP TO THE LIBRARY TO ACCESS INTERNET SERVICES?
A: You are welcome to visit us and access high speed internet access at workstations or use Wi-Fi, however access to electronic services is restricted to registered members only.
Q: WHERE DO I ASK IF I HAVE A QUESTION?
A: The Reference Desk acts as the point of contact for enquiries. Ask the Reference Librarian for assistance in locating and searching the library material. You may also fill in our Online Request Form or call us at 91-129-4268901 or 4268902 or email info.library@mriu.edu.in
Q: CAN SOMEONE SHOW ME HOW TO RESEARCH A TOPIC?
A: Yes, the Library has staff who can introduce you to the most relevant print and electronic resources, for your subject. Just ask at the Reference Service Desk if you would like this type of individual help and staff there will refer you on to appropriate resources.
Q: WHAT ELECTRONIC RESOURCES ARE AVAILABLE TO ME?
A: The Library subscribes to a range of online databases to help you with your research and academic pursuits. Library subscribes to IEEE, ASME, ASCE, J-GATE, Ebscohost, GALE Infotrac, Knimbus, DELNET databases, which can be accessed in library. However please note that access to the select databases is available campus wide. Please contact Reference Desk for possible assistance.
