About the Department

Manav Rachna University (MRU) is a leading State Private University (established by Haryana State Legislature Act No 26 of 2014 & under section 2(f) of UGC Act 1956), offering globally relevant education. The University has evolved from Manav Rachna College of Engineering (MRCE, established in 2004, a NAAC Accredited ‘A’ Grade Institution). Manav Rachna University has been bestowed with QS I-GAUGE, Overall DIAMOND rating, and has been awarded a Platinum (Highest Ranking) in Employability and Academic Development. The University has also received a QS I-GAUGE Diamond rating in the following indicators: Teaching and Learning; Faculty Quality; Facilities; Social Responsibility.

Manav Rachna University is among the Top 2 Emerging Engineering Institutions of India and  has been ranked the No. 1 Engineering Institution in India for Research Capability & Placements in the Times Engineering Survey 2022. 

The aim of the Department of Computer Science & Technology is to provide high-quality education along with training the students with all the new advancements in the field of computers. The department takes initiative to improve the soft skills, analytical capabilities and verbal communication of the students. The department has functional research groups in various thrust areas like Cloud & Big Data, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Green Computing, Information Retrieval, Image Processing & Analytics and Mobile Ad-hoc Networks.

The department adopted learning by doing pedagogy and offers and lab oriented curriculum is incorporated to create a learning environment in which students are more confident and productive as they engage in projects that empower them to take ownership of their education. The department has computer labs in the different areas of computing equipped with the latest software in the respective areas and hardware complementing its implementation. 

The scope of computer science is endless. The computer engineering and IT Applications fields are experiencing an increase of opportunity driven by the technological transformation of every industry. The current market outlook is being shaped by the demand for technological solutions and innovation—particularly in mobile computing—and a host of emerging markets such as Big Data, Apps Development, Cyber Security, Web Development, Internet of things, Nanotechnology and green computing.

Manav Rachna University has adopted cloud computing curricula from the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Educate global initiative into its mainstream college syllabus to help develop the next generation of cloud professionals. The cloud computing content from AWS Educate will be offered as part of Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) in Computer Science and Engineering program. Students also get opportunity to opt for online courses offered by the SWAYAM-NPTEL and  Infosys-Springboard platforms for credit transfer and earning life skill points.
