- To increase the strength of the department in the field of design and analysis.
- To start the Projects, Research and Consultancy.
Module Covered During the Workshop
- HyperMesh
About HyperMesh
- HyperMesh is the market-leading, multi-disciplinary finite element pre-processor which manages the generation of the largest, most complex models, starting with the import of a CAD geometry to exporting a ready-to-run solver file.
- HyperMesh supports a wide variety of CAD and solver interfaces, making it a perfect solution for most industry verticals and domains. With its advanced geometry and meshing capabilities, HyperMesh provides an environment for rapid model generation. Generating high-quality mesh quickly is just one of HyperMesh’s core competencies.
- For complex sub-system generation and assembly, HyperMesh has advanced model assembly tools. Modeling of laminate composites is supported by advanced creation, editing and visualization tools. Design changes can be made easily via mesh morphing and geometry dimensioning.
Products of Altair Software
Altair is not a single software. But it is a bunch of softwares which relates to the various verticals of the industry. No one can learn all the softwares. So an engineer or academician has to understand concept of every software or product. Therefore, an overview of products given to the trainees. So that trainees can select their products according to their needs and can become expert in their field.

Composites Design and Analysis
Altair offers a comprehensive suite of design and analysis tools that can help to efficiently design composite structures, convert metal designs to composites, optimize for performance and weight, and intuitively explore variations in design configurations. Altair has over 30 years of experience designing, analyzing and optimizing composite structures and we can partner with them in a variety of ways to help us achieve success in using composites in our products.
A Flexible Approach
In today’s business environment, we need a partner that can work with us in a flexible manner. At Altair, they provide a comprehensive suite of software tools that we can run independently on our compute infrastructure or in the cloud with flexible license terms for the times we need them.
Altair can also augment our design team or simply be our design team to engineer great products with state-of-the art technology and decades of applicable experience. Our software partners bring added value to your design and analysis capabilities and we can access their tools with our flexible licensing system or through our consulting engagements. Altair technology and people are the catalyst to creating innovative and successful composite products.
Composite Design Optimization
Altair OptiStruct offers unique capabilities for optimizing composite designs by using advanced optimization techniques:
- Topology Optimization for Concept Design Synthesis.
- Ply Shape Optimization to identify ideal ply drop-off zones.
- Ply Thickness Optimization to determine minimum thickness for each ply shape.
- Ply Order Optimization to define Stacking Sequence to follow Ply Book rules.
To improve composite designs, these phases can be considered separately depending on where we are in the overall design process or they can be integrated to realize maximum benefit. The optimization driven process using Altair OptiStruct ensures that design performance criteria and manufacturing constraints are maintained from concept through final design.
Outcome of the Workshop
- Learned how to create Ply/Plies.
- Setting of the fiber orientation and thickness.
- Setting of the material properties.
- Preparation of Laminates.
- Element Realization

Students from both branch i.e., ME and ECE were also there and understood the benefits of Structural Analysis, Thermal Analysis, Fluid Analysis, flux analysis, etc.
A memento presented to Mr. Gopal Singh Rathore by Prof. (Dr.) I. K. Bhatt (Vice-Chancellor), Prof. (Dr.) Shruti Vashist (Dean-Students Welfare & HoD-ECE) and Prof. (Dr.) Sujata Nayak (ME Department).
Prof. (Dr.) I. K. Bhatt (Vice-Chancellor) also addressed the students and motivated them to Project Based Learning. A student should do 5 to 6 projects in a semester. As the industries are changing from Industry 1.0 to Industry 4.0, similarly teaching method should changed from Education 1.0 to Education 4.0. This is the only method to bridge the gap between Academia and Industry.
