The pedagogical philosophy of the department can be summarized in the belief that the best ways to learn chemistry is to do chemistry. The preparation of future professionals requires learning and application of knowledge gained through laboratory work. The curriculum emphasizes the scientific method, chemical inquiry, critical thinking, data acquisition and evaluation and effective communication, both written and oral. The best ways to learn chemistry is to do chemistry.  The world is currently undergoing a paradigm shift towards sustainable growth and development through the effective implementation of green chemistry at industrial and academic levels.

The global warming and climate change is pushing the world to look for Green energy technological options. Scientific evidence shows that during the next few decades we will have the greatest impact on the environment and survival on this planet will not be easy unless we take drastic measures. Now is simply a great time to learn about going green. Climate change compels us to think about how to harness and use energy resources differently so that our living environment is not jeopardized, and technology is going to play a central role in providing this “how.” Engineering and science students who are well educated in this area will contribute to the technology solutions that promise great career potential. All faculty members are PhDs from IITs and reputed universities with varied experience in academics and industries. The department keeps updating their knowledge by organizing workshops and Invited Talks on contemporary issues.
