Bachelor of Design (B. Design) – MRIIRS

This programme is offered with specializations in Interior design /Animation and Visual Effects(VFX) /Communication Design based on the courses opted by the students out of the basket of offered elective courses.

At MRIIRS, B. Design is taught in tandem with industry research, development and requirement. Course at Manav Rachna follows multiple study paths — where students can choose to explore new areas of study, focus on a combination of disciplines, or start preparing for a specific career trajectory. The first-year curriculum provides an introduction to the tools, Critical Thinking, and Problem-Solving skills fundamental to all areas of Art and Design. It also offers an array of course options so that students can determine the breadth and depth of studies and follow their interests through course selection.
All freshmen students at Manav Rachna will have a common first-year study experience. Students pursuing three of degrees follow a similar curriculum, with a few requirements specific to their programs. Whether one focusses on a single field or explores multiple subject areas as a freshman, it won’t affect their ability to pursue their major.

B.Design has three specializations

A. Animation and Visual Effects (VFX):-

With Manav Rachna`s Animation & Visual Effects course, student becomes a part of the aggressively growing Animation & VFX industry that plays a crucial role in almost every movie and media creation these days. The demand for trained professionals in Visual Effects is growing at a fast pace. A career in animation is one of the most-sought-after options these days. With lucrative jobs, opportunity to showcase your creativity and a chance to be in the spotlight, a career in animation offers all that a student wants. In this program, students acquire all the necessary software and production skills to get accustomed to the range of projects pertaining to this discipline.

Scope of  VFX:-

SCOPE OF VFX: –

Students, after completion of the course, shall pursue advanced studies in the discipline or start their own individual design practice or work under a reputed label. They may take up the following career paths:

• Concept Artist
• 3DAnimator
• VFX Artist- Roto-scoping Artist, Motion Graphics artist, Compositor Artist, Simulation and Dynamics artist, Color correction artist, Matte painting Artist, Team leads, Studio Art direction

B. Interior Design:-

Enhancing composition, communication and creative skills all put together remains central to the process of design thinking and innovation in this student-centred design course programme. Focus is on understanding appropriate design approach in any particular context.

Students gain a wide-range of exposure with field visits and mentoring sessions, and get to harness their potential learning about varied theoretical concepts and socio-cultural notions, which continues to be a significant part of the curriculum. Lectures and classroom activities, specifically for the end semester thesis are designed for continuous students’ engagement with local communities, fellow professors, industry experts and other practicing design professionals.

Scope Of Interior Design :

Interior Designers can be full-time employees in design and development based organisations. They can be employed as interior designers, interior development managers in the manufacturing industry either in domestic or in international markets. Interior Designers can find work with design-focused companies like Apple, Tesla, Samsung, Tata, Mahindra, etc. 

Students can also choose to specialise in a wide variety of domains such as consumer electronics, clean energy, industrial production, electric transportation, sustainability etc.

C. Communication Design:-

Communication Design focusses on typography and interaction and one can choose an industry-related area of study, such as Information Design, Branding, Editorial, Motion Graphics, Type Design, or Web/Mobile Product Design. Students learn how to create compelling messages from concept stage to final form and share them. Students explore the social and environmental dimensions of communication. Students work directly with peers throughout the faculty in hands-on collaborative courses. Several elective subjects enhance their overall learning.

Scope of Communication Design

Communication Designer presents a massive opportunity to students.Students, after completion of the course shall pursue advanced studies in the discipline or start their own individual design practice or work under a reputed label. They may take up the following career paths:

• Graphic Designer Visual designers for studios, advertising and media/software companies
• Illustrator for publication, studios, animation companies, media houses
• Visualizer/ Visual designer / Art director for advertising/ media and design studios
• Creative Director- publications/ media/ studios/ software companies/ education institutes and companies
• UI Designer- for software companies/ studios- user interface designer as visual designer
• UX Designer- for software companies/ studios-Web Designer/ App Designer / User Experience Designer- to be added in communication design
