Faridabad Urban Wash Project

Through a tripartite agreement among MCF (Municipal Corporation of Faridabad) MRIIRS, and NIUA (National Institute of Urban Affairs), the WASH Innovation Lab, Faridabad (WILF) has been established at Center for Advance Water Technology & Management (CAWTM), MRIIRS Faridabad on May 2018.

Dr D K Chadha, Chair Professor & Chairman, CAWTM has also been nominated as the USAID Urban WASH Chair, Faridabad. The WILF is part of global IHUWASH project (Innovation Hub for Urban Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Solutions) of USAID, being implemented in India by NIUA.  The WILF is having following objectives

  • Advisory support to MCF in WASH sector: providing regular advisory support to MCF on issues relating to Urban WASH Sector
  • Conduct training, workshops, capacity building programs: conducting training programs to enhance capacity of government officials in implementing WASH Innovations in urban areas and thereby achieving goals of SBM, AMRUT and SCM more effectively
  • Action Research: carrying out evidence based research to improve designs of WASH infrastructure and systems for performance monitoring of WASH operations using GIS.
  • Create partnership with private entities and industries: collaborating with private sector, to ensure sustainability of WASH innovation Lab beyond the Agreement Tenure.

Since last May 2018 under WILF the CAWTM has conducted various activities as per the schedule of activity fixed to archive the objectives of IHUWASH in India.  The present WASH project tenure is for two years with an approved budget of Rs 23.20 lakhs.
