(Hospitality and Hotel Administration) culminated with ‘Udaan’. It was a truly splendid occasion in scale and stature as Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Manav Rachna International University (MRIU), had gone all out to make it a memorable event for the freshers.  Radio Jockey Naved was the Chief Gueston the occasion. Ms Satya Bhalla, Chief Patron, MREI; Dr N.C. Wadhwa, Vice Chancellor, MRIU; Dr Chavi Bhargava Sharma, Dean, FMS, MRIU; among a host of other dignitaries and guests were present on the occasion.

The lighting of the lamp of wisdom gave the event a traditional touch which was followed by a documentary entitled “Highlights of the Skills Development Workshops”- An overview of the students’ journey’. The film footage gave glimpses of the dynamic orientation of FMS where students gain hands on experience and exposure through multifarious activities that hone their innate potential and talent.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr N.C. Wadhwa, Vice Chancellor, MRIU, expressed deep satisfaction over the fact that “students had travelled in different horizons during the Skills Development Workshops”. He also stated, “Such Workshops help to sharpen the skills in a knowledge-centric nation and will contribute towards students being gainfully employed.”

Welcoming all the students, Ms Satya Bhalla emphasized upon certain noble attributes like ‘Shraddha’ (respect) and ‘Bharosa’ (faith) which students need to cultivate to bring glory to their institution. The event was made all the more meaningful by way of a book launch ‘Dictionary of terms in Test, Measurement, Evaluation and Statistics’ authored by Dr. Chavi Bhargava Sharma along with the  felicitation of 10 FMS students who were devoted towards causes taken up by FMS as part of its CSR initiatives.

To mark the momentous occasion, the ‘Udaan’ souvenir and CD was released by Chief Guest Mr Naved.

In a special session, Radio Jockey Naved, best known for his ‘laugh riots’ and programmes like ‘Dilli ka Don’ regaled students with his humble beginnings and how he was privileged to associate himself with Manav Rachna International University. In a free-wheeling chat laced with ready wit, RJ Naved said “the sky is the limit” for the students who are today part of Manav Rachna; they should treat every experience as a learning opportunity and work on their strengths and weaknesses to transform their lives. He also encouraged them to be enterprising and hardworking so as to go places given the wealth of opportunities.
