Professor Diwan S Rawat joined the Department as a Reader in July 2003, and was promoted to Professor in March 2010. He obtained his master’s degree from Kumaun University, Nainital in 1993 and was honoured with the merit certificate for securing first position in the University. He did his Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow.

Prof. Rawat was a Sectional President of Indian Science Congress (2019-2020) and is a recipient of CRSI young scientist award (2007); ISCB young scientist award (2010); Prof. D. P. Chakraborty 60th Birth Anniversary Commemoration Award (2007); VC`s Pratik Chinha Samman, Kumaun University Nainital (2011) and many more to his credentials.

Prof. Rawat is an Associate Editor of Nature Scientific Reports and RSC Advances, and also serves on the International Editorial Advisory Board of ACS Bioconjugate Chemistry, Anti-Cancer Agents in Medicinal Chemistry, and Marine Drugs.

Prof Sangeeta Pandita is a professor of Chemistry at Zakir Husain Delhi College, University of Delhi. Professor Pandita is a synthetic organic chemist engaged in teaching and research in sustainable chemistry for over three decades. She has several research publications in international and national journals of repute. Her innovative approaches to chemistry laboratory teaching have resulted in the design of a unique new apparatus, BODMEL, a new approach to qualitative analysis of carbohydrates and several green synthetic procedures for the teaching laboratory.

  • He received his Ph.D. in Materials Science from JAIST, Japan in 2015 as a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) fellow.
  • His doctoral thesis focusing on the solvothermal synthesis of heterogeneous catalysts was acknowledged with an Outstanding Achievement Award by JAIST in 2015.
  • In 2016, he joined Prof. Robin D Rogers’ research group at McGill University, Canada and The University of Alabama, USA to work on the synthesis and application of ionic liquids.
  • 2019, he joined Sandia National Laboratories and Joint BioEnergy Institute with a focus on biofuels and biomaterials.
  • He, so far, holds 9 patent and patent applications and has published 27 peer reviewed articles and 1 book chapter in chemical and materials science.
  • He has a broad research interest including heterogeneous catalysis, surface characterization, biomass utilization, plastics upcycling, and ionic liquid applications for biomass processing, process development, agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, and separation among others.

She received her M.Sc. Mathematics, University of Allahabad, Allahabad in 1988. She received her PhD degree in Mathematics from  The MS University of Baroda, Vadodara in 1996. She was Post Doctoral Fellow (2000-2001) Greek Govt Scholarship at Department of Mathematics, University of Athens, Greece.

She has served as Lecturer, Reader, Associate Professor and Professor at the Department of Mathematics, The MS University of Baroda during 1996 – 2014. Currently serving as Professor at the Department of Mathematics, University of Delhi.

Dr. Kumkum Dewan is a former Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi, India. She received her B.A. (H). in Science and M.A. in Mathematics from the University of Delhi, India, in 1969 and 1971 respectively. She received her PhD degree in Mathematics from the IIT , Delhi in 1980 .

Dr. Dewan is a committed teacher and has been in the teaching profession (1972-till date) and held responsible positions of Vice Chancellor of Noida International University (2015-till date); Acting Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia University (2014-2015); Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences (2005-2008); Professor and Head, Deptt. of Mathematics (2000-2003); Head, Deptt. of Computer Science (2007); Associate Professor in Deptt. of Mathematics (1985-1993); Assistant Professor of Mathematics (1972-1985), Jamia Millia Islamia University and Visiting Assistant Professor at Concordia University, Montreal, Canada (1986-1987).

Dr. Khalil Ahmad received his M.Sc. (Mathematics) from Kanpur University in 1970, M.Phil. (Pure Mathematics) from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh in 1976 and Ph.D. from University of Delhi in 1982.
He has held positions as Professor in Al-Falah University, Faridabad 2014 to till date. Prof. Mohammad Zulfequar

Prof. Mohammad Zulfequar joined Jamia Millia Islamia as a Lecturer in January 1990 and was promoted to professorship in the year 2008. Before joining the university, he held the position of project scientist at IIT Kanpur, and was involved in the experimental studies of high Tc superconductors. He holds a Ph.D. degree on “Electrical & Dielectric Properties of Hot-Pressed Aluminium Nitride Ceramic” from HBTI Kanpur. With over 200 publications in international peer-reviewed journals, he has a research experience of more than 35 years and has guided 28 research scholars towards a Ph.D. thesis. He has been a recipient of the Sultana Nahar Distinguished Teacher of the Year award at Jamia Millia Islamia for the academic session 2017-2018. He has established the Materials Science Lab, which includes facilities such as SEM, RF sputtering unit, ECR plasma etching system, differential scanning calorimeter, UV/VIS/NIR Spectrophotometer, Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD) etc.
Prof. Zulfequar has been a member of various academic societies such as ICTP (Indian Chapter), Indian Science Congress, IAPT (Life member), Semiconductor Society of India (Executive member), Meteorological Society of India, among others. He is the UGC Nominee for SAP programme at the Department of Physics, MDU Rohtak. He has also upheld administrative responsibilities in various capacities during his tenure at Jamia Millia Islamia, such as member of the Academic Council, Director – Centre of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Honorary Director – Multidisciplinary Centre for Advanced Research and studies), Assistant Superintendent of Exam, etc. He is an active reviewer of international journals like the Journal of Materials Chemistry and Physics, Journal of Applied Physics, Physica B and the Philosophical Magazine Letter.

Prof. P.K. Bhatnagar

Prof. P.K. Bhatnagar, formerly Professor and Head of the Department of Electronic Sciences, University of Delhi (South Campus), New Delhi, received his M.Sc. degree in 1968 from Agra University, Post M.Sc. in 1969 from Indian IIT, Delhi and Ph.D. in 1980 from the Department of Physics and Astrophysics, University of Delhi. He retired on 28 February 2014 from his service, after which he served as UGC-BSR Faculty fellow. His research areas include optical memories, photovoltaics, application of nano materials in electronic devices, quantum dots, conducting polymers and DNA sequence detection using conducting polymers and carbon nanotubes. Thirty five students have obtained their PhD under his supervision. He has authored over 150 research papers. He received the Teacher Fellowship award in 1976 from UGC, India and INSA-Royal Society Exchange of Scientist fellowship in 1984 for his visit to the UK (British Council). He has been a member of IEEE society and presently is a life member of Semiconductor Society of India. He has completed more than 15 national and international research projects on solar cells, leds and biosensors.
