Oral Surgery

Frequently Asked Questions in Oral Surgery

  1. Will extraction process be painful?

Answer:To keep the process painless we will be administering local anesthesia. Once local anesthesia starts to work you won’t be able to feel the pain.

2.When should I start eating normally again?

Answer:It is important after surgery to maintain good nutrition and hydration. Directly after surgery it is recommended to eat a healthy diet of softer texture foods and to drink sufficient water. In the following 2-3 days it is typical to slowly advance your diet back to a normal menu with some care given to avoid the operated area(s) as much as possible.

3. How is my pain going to be controlled after extraction?

Answer:Post-operative pain management is achieved through prescription and wound care remedies.

4. When can I go back to work?

Answer:Returning to work or school is often possible if you follow proper wound care instructions and prescription medicines. However, it is advisable to take rest for 1-2 days.

5. When should I come back to removal of stiches?

Answer:Stiches are generally removed after 7- 10 days. Resorbable sutures need not to be removed.
