Brief Profile:
Dr. Dhurjati Majumdar was born in Kolkata (Calcutta), India on 1stFebruary, 1956. He completed his B Sc, M Sc and Ph.D in Physiology from the University of Calcutta, Kolkata. He has specialized in Ergonomics/Human Factors. He has served in the CLI, Mumbai (1986-88) and DRDO, Delhi (1988-2016) . He has researched extensively in the areas of environmental physiology, exercise physiology, physical ergonomics, design ergonomics, cognitive ergonomics, gait and biomechanics and yoga. He conducted physiological acclimatization studies at Antarctica. He has established first 3D motion analysis laboratory in India.
He conducted several studies on occupational health and safety, training programs and consultancy studies on the “Effects of heat, noise and ergonomic issues on the health and performance of industrial workers” in various industries in India.
He has published several papers in the leading international journals in Ergonomics/Human Factors. He is the reviewer of all most all the international journals in the area of Ergonomics in the world.
He has got wide experience of teaching in the areas of Human physiology, Environmental physiology, Exercise physiology, application of Ergonomics and Human Factors in design in several universities, IITs, NITs and other reputed academic institutes in India.
He has vast administrative and professional experience. He has received a no. of awards from DRDO and outside organizations. He is a member of several national and international societies.
