DEPARTMENT OF CSE, FET, MRIU ORGANISED AN EXPERT LECTURE ON ‘TECHNOLOGY AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP FOR SOCIAL IMPACTS’

Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Manav Rachna International University, organized an expert lecture for students on ‘Technology and Entrepreneurship for social impacts’, on September 07, 2016, at its MRIU campus, Faridabad. This lecture showcased how innovative social entrepreneurs and mission-driven businesses are using data, social media, mobile apps, and other technologies to solve problems around the world and reach more people and communities.

The expert lecture commenced in the presence of Dr. S. S. Tyagi, Professor and Head, Dept. of CSE, FET, MRIU; Dr. Suresh Kumar, Professor, Dept. of CSE, FET, MRIU and Prof. Anil Chopra, Professor, Dept. of CSE, FET, MRIU; Guest speaker Mr. Manu Chopra, Intern at Microsoft Research, Lecturer at Stanford University and Co-Founder CS+Social Good; and Mr. Himanshu Batra, Founder & CEO, Acadview. Mr. Manu Chopra narrated his instigating journey from a 17-year old Delhi boy to being an Entrepreneur and Lecturer at Stanford University, one of the world’s leading research and teaching institutions, located in Stanford, California. An inspiration to several young minds, he said “25 people in a room can help 25 million people, by the use of technology. We need to find an everyday problem and ask ourselves, ‘can technology solve this?’. The aim is to create something that outlives us and affects the lives of many, making their lives easier”. He collectively asked the students to find a suitable mentor and take guidance from them. In the Q&A session, he inquired the students, sitting in audience to come up with their daily problems, so that together they can make an effort to solve them, or understand the existing solutions. He also motivated the students to not to be afraid and think big. He concluded by saying that we should apply problem solving methodologies to select appropriate governance, management and value sets in each sector and re-shape the dynamics of the social economy of our country.

img_8873Dr. S. S. Tyagi gave his vote of thanks to our Guest speaker and complimented him on his achievements at such a young age, which would prove to be a great inspiration to others. The expert lecture was attended by approx. 300 B. Tech(CSE), FET and MCA students and faculty members.
