MRIU organizes First Training Programme on Big Data Analytics supported by DST, GOI

Manav Rachna International University is organizing a 10 day Training Programme on Big Data Analytics in collaboration with Big Data Initiative Division, Department of Science & Technology, GOI

–Aims to acquaint participants in the area of Big Data Analytics while providing foundations to them and enabling them to work on Big Data Analytics and allied areas which will provide practical exposure to them on software tools and techniques used for Big Data analytics

–Participants who arrived from different states of India like UP, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Kolkata, Uttarakhand and Delhi-NCR were informed about the need to transform raw data into information since information is wealth

big-data1Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Faculty of Engineering & Technology (FET), Manav Rachna International University (MRIU) is organising a Training programme on Big Data Analytics that is bound to benefit a wide spectrum of people such as Faculty, Research Scholars from professional colleges/universities/research institutes and individuals from the industry working in the same domain. The Programme on Big Data Analytics is a joint effort of FET, MRIU and Big Data Initiative Division, Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. The programme starting today will continue till 17 June, 2016 with the aim of acquainting participants in the area of Big Data Analytics while providing practical exposure to them on software tools and techniques used for Big Data analytics.

Addressing the gathering, Dr K.R. Murli Mohan, Head, BDI-Division, Department of Science & Technology (DST), GOI, informed that this is the first Training Programme on Big Data Analytics supported by DST. He threw open the question, “Is Big Data Analytics a reality or hype?” and advised the participants that it was important to transform raw data into information since information is wealth.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr N.C. Wadhwa, Vice Chancellor, MRIU, said, “Big Data Analytics is necessary for developing countries like India in the light of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Digital India’ initiatives.” He further emphasized on the need for domain knowledge and ugradation of equipments and skills in the field of Data Management. Highlighting the fact that MRIU is a front runner in the field of innovation and incubation, such programmes will further enhance the knowledge of Faculty and Researchers in the Data Analytics field.

Dr Ashis Sen Gupta of Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, expressed, “Industry should focus on quality and quantitative analysis of Data.” The ten day training programme will discuss on issues like Data Science Basics, Basic Data Models, Advanced Data Models, Finding Structures in Data, MapReduce and Hadoop Architecture, Analyzing data in motion among others topics.

Present at the inaugural session was Dr K.R. Murli Mohan, Head, BDI-Division, Department of Science & Technology (DST), GOI; Dr N.C. Wadhwa, Vice Chancellor, MRIU; Prof. (Dr) M.K. Soni, Executive Director and Dean, FET, MRIU; Dr S.S. Tyagi, Head of the Department, CSE, FEt, MRIU; Dr Sourav Dutta, Executive Consultant, IBM; Professor (Dr) Ashis Sen Gupta of Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, among others.
