Inauguration Ceremony of MRIU ACM Student Chapter, CSE, FET

img_1126Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Manav Rachna International University, inaugurated the first ever ACM Student Chapter in Haryana and organized a seminar on ‘Securing Digital India – Seminar on Smartphone Security and Social Networking Sites Threats’,technically supported by Lucideus  Tech Pvt. Ltd. and ACM Student Chapter at its MRIU Campus, Faridabad. The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) is an international learned society for computing. It is the world’s largest scientific and educational computing society. ACM brings together computing educators, researchers, and professionals to inspire dialogue, share resources, and address the fields challenges. Under the Chapter, various multi-disciplinary events will be organized ranging from meet-ups, workshops, guest lectures, hackathons and other technology-related activities. The event commenced at 1100 hrs with the inaugural ceremony, floral welcome of the guests, in the presence of honorable Chief Guest Dr. M. K. Soni, Executive Director and Dean, FET; Dr. S. S. Tyagi, Professor and Head, Department of CSE, FET; Dr. Neelima Gupta, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, University of Delhi; Mr. Palvinder Singh, Information System Expert, Lucideus Tech Pvt. Ltd.; Mr. Hitesh, Manager,  Lucideus Tech Pvt. Ltd.; Dr. Suresh Kumar, Professor, Department of CSE, FET; Prof. Anil Chopra, Professor, Department of CSE, FET; ACM Faculty Coordinator Ms. Charu Pujara, Associate Professor, Deptt. of CSE, FET; faculty members and students. Dr. S. S. Tyagi gave the inauguration address, where he bid welcome to the visiting delegates and participants. He outlined today’s proceedings and elaborated the benefits of being a part of the ACM Student Chapter. Dr. M. K. Soni, in his speech, conveyed his best wishes and encouraged the students to participate in such events whilst enhancing their knowledge pool.  Dr. Neelima Gupta gave an introduction to students about ACM and accentuated the range of events that could be organized in association with ACM. She also listed some past events such as ACM Annual event Inter-Research-Institute Student Seminar (IRISS), ACM Compute, Summit, Distinguished Speaker Programme, etc.

After the inauguration ceremony, the event continued with the seminar on ‘Securing Digital India – Seminar on Smartphone Security and Social Networking Sites Threats’, delivered by Mr. Palvinder Singh. He discussed and explained the types of hackers, about ethical hacking, policy of G-mail, key loggers, downloading cracks for any paid app, DDoS, file types in Google, International Domain Name (IDN) etc.

Ms. Charu Pujara expressed her gratitude towards the esteemed speakers and gave her vote of thanks. Dr. S. S. Tyagi presented Dr. Neelima Gupta and Mr. Palvinder Singh with a memento. The event with more than 100 attendees, proved to be highly successful and an inspiring event.
