The Department of Electronics and Communication engineering at MRU hosted a workshop on MATLAB software for the students. The primary objective of organizing the MATLAB workshop was to enhance the practical skills and proficiency of the students in utilizing MATLAB, a widely used software platform for technical computing and simulation.
Day 1- February 15, 2024: Introduction and Basics of MATLAB:
On February 15th, 2024, a hands-on session on MATLAB was conducted. The session introduced fundamentals of MATLAB. Dr.Charu Pathak introduced to the advantages of using MATLAB. The students were explained about the basics of MATLAB, including its interface, basic commands, variables, arrays, and plotting functions. Hands-on sessions were conducted; allowing students to practice the concepts taught and solve simple problems. The students from different branches of Engineering participated and showed enthusiasm in learning the new tool.
Day 2- February 22, 2024: Introduction to Simulink and other Toolboxes for Engineering
On Day 2 of the workshop, students were introduced to Simulink and various other engineering tools of MATLAB. Students were also introduced to some basic programs including signal generation, plotting of graphs etc.
Day 3- February 29, 2024: Critical thinking and Problem Solving
The final day of the workshop focused on advanced topics in MATLAB, including signal processing, image processing, and simulation techniques. Practical examples were demonstrated to illustrate the application of MATLAB in these domains. Participants were given challenges to solve using MATLAB, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills. A quiz was conducted for the students.
Outcome:
- Enhanced understanding of MATLAB fundamentals among participants.
- Improved proficiency in writing MATLAB scripts and functions.
- Exposure to advanced MATLAB applications in signal and image processing, simulation, etc.
- Development of problem-solving abilities through hands-on coding exercises and projects.
Feedback and Conclusion: The workshop was conducted by Mr. Aryan Singh Chauhan and his team including Ms. Ishpreet and Mr.Shivam, students of ECE Semester 4 under the guidance of Dr.Charu Pathak. A Feedback was collected from the participants through surveys, and the overall response was highly positive. Participants expressed satisfaction with the content covered, the effectiveness of the hands-on sessions, and the expertise of the instructors. Many students highlighted the practical relevance of the workshop in complementing their academic learning.
