Report on Guest Lectures at NIFM (National Institute of Financial Management), Faridabad: Delivered by Dr. Animesh Singh (Associate Professor – SMC – MRU)
The School of Management and Commerce at Manav Rachna University is pleased to provide a report on the guest lecture series delivered by Dr. Animesh Singh, an Associate Professor of the department, at NIFM (National Institute of Financial Management) from 08 May to 23 May – 2023. The lectures focused on the topic of Research Methodology using SPSS and R. The target audience for these lectures comprised approximately 40 students enrolled in the Master of Business Administration (Financial Management) program, sponsored by various government departments.
Research methodology plays a crucial role in the MBA program, and students are required to submit project reports and summer internship reports based on real research. The use of statistical analysis software, such as SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences), is essential for performing data analysis. Proficiency in data analysis is a vital skill for management graduates. At NIFM, MBA students from various government departments are tasked with analyzing departmental and societal problems, emphasizing the significance of research for these students.
Recognizing the importance of research and the need to enhance students’ research abilities, NIFM organized guest lectures to achieve the following objectives:
- Enable students to perform statistical analysis using SPSS and R: The lectures aimed to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to conduct statistical analysis using SPSS and R software. This would empower them to effectively analyze data and draw meaningful conclusions.
- Guide students in overcoming challenges during data analysis: Data analysis can present challenges, and the lectures sought to address these difficulties commonly faced by students. Dr. Animesh Singh – Associate Professor – MRU, provided guidance and strategies to tackle these challenges, ensuring a smoother research process.
- Hands-on sessions with analysis of different data files: The lectures included practical, hands-on sessions wherein students worked with various data files. This approach allowed students to gain practical experience in applying statistical tests like t-tests, chi-square tests, ANOVA, correlation, and regression using SPSS and R.
Dr. Animesh Singh From Manav Rachna University delivered a total of seven hours of lectures over the course of the series. Overall, the guest lecture series conducted by Dr. Animesh Singh at NIFM proved to be a valuable addition to the MBA program. The lectures provided students with the necessary tools and knowledge to perform statistical analysis using SPSS and R, allowing them to effectively analyze data for their research projects.
