Report of the Session on E- Waste Management
School of Education and Humanities, Manav Rachna University organized an extension lecture
on the theme of ‘E-Waste Management’ on 12th Jan 2024 on the occasion of National Youth
Day. The day signifies the importance of the power of youth in bringing the desired change in
the world. The theme of the session also aptly captures the essence of the idea which was
intended to sensitize trainee teachers of the University towards building a sustainable world
through effective E-Waste management The resource person for the session was Dr.Renu
Sharma, Head of the Program (Research and Advocacy), HME Waste Management. Dr. Renu
began her talk by highlighting the magnitude of the problem created by massive discard of E-
Waste due to personal and industrial consumption. She further added the presence of the
unorganized sector in the E-waste collection area as a critical threat to its safe disposal. She
later emphasized upon the need of using strategic measures and approaching the authorized E
waste collection centers assigned by the Govt of India for effective E-Waste management.
Dr.Renu made the session very insightful with engaging discussion with the students during
question and answer round. She also showed interesting documentaries and videos to make
the session more impactful. With this extension lecture cum awareness program, the
department of Education and Humanities became part of the Green Campaign initiative being
undertaken by the institute. The session concluded with vote of thanks by Dr.Savita Sharma
from School of Education and Humanities.
