Online One Week Short Term Training Programme
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies, organized AICTE sponsored Online one-week Short Term Training Programme (STTP) on Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning, from August 24-29 2020, in the online mode.
The training programme commenced on 24th August 2020 in the presence of Dr Naresh Grover, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, MRIIRS; Shri R.K Arora, Registrar, MRIIRS, Dr. H.C. Rai, Dean FET, MRIIRS, Dr Supriya P.Panda, Professor and Head, Dept. of CSE, FET, MRIIRS, Dr Suresh Kumar, Professor CSE, FET, MRIIRS(Chair of Event), Dr Poonam Tanwar, Associate Professor CSE, FET(Event Coordinator), Dr Shelja Sharma, Assistant Professor(Event Coordinator), and Ms Shweta Sharma, Assistant Professor, CSE, FET, MRIIRS(Event Coordinator).
Ms. Shweta Sharma welcomed the dignitaries and all the participants present in the event. The inaugural session started with a welcome address by Dr Suresh Kumar. He briefed the participants and dignitaries about the training programme, its purpose, and a detailed schedule along with the speakers to the delegates.
Dr. Supriya P. Panda, Professor and Head, Dept. of CSE, FET, MRIIRS shared the significance and need of the Training Programme. She started with AI Background, paying homage to the founder of AI, John McCarthy.
She also discussed the various relevant areas from academia and applications in industry. Further, she accentuated the synergy between AI and ML and the function of ML in propelling AI to a time of powerful acceleration!
Dr. H.C Rai, Dean, FET spoke about how Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence have entered each and every aspect by citing real-time examples of different applications. He also emphasized the importance of machine learning, computer vision, and natural language processing in the field of research.
Shri. R.K Arora, Registrar, MRIIRS congratulated and appreciated the department for organizing the training programme sponsored by AICTE. He emphasized the importance of Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning in different areas and gave blessings for the success of the event.
Dr. Naresh Grover, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, MRIIRS welcomed all the participants, experts, delegates, and dignitaries to the training programme. He complimented the Computer Science and Engineering department for the training programme for covering experts from teaching and industry. He also emphasized Industry 4.0 which includes robotics, machine learning,3D printing, etc.
70 delegates attended the programme and saw numerous experts delivering lectures and introducing the delegates to the tools and technologies of Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning.
There were two sessions on the first day. The first session was delivered by Dr. Niteesth Joshi, Associate Professor, Banasthali Vidyapith, India. He introduced the audience to the field of Artificial Intelligence, Neural Networks, Machine learning and Deep Learning. He also explained the concept of Problem formulation and the concepts of Natural Language processing with the help of a case study. His session was highly informative and enlightened the audience on different topics in the area of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
The second session was delivered by Dr Lalit Mohan Goyal, Assistant Professor, J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA Faridabad. He introduced the concept of data mining techniques, associate rule mining. He explained the concepts of the Genetic algorithm with a real-time example. His session explained different concepts of machine learning and very informative.
