A pragmatic leader, a magnetic entrepreneur and a magnanimous personality, he has over four decades of experience in the engineering and manufacturing sector and has played a defining role in establishing Escorts as an organization of repute. He took over the reins of Escorts Group as its Chairman in 1994 and has been actively involved in every aspect of the Company’s management. A forward looking and perceptive leader, Mr. Nanda has navigated the company in times of unprecedented challenges in the economy.
His perceptive guidance has resulted in giving Escorts a laser sharp focus in the heavy growth economy sectors of agricultural machinery, construction equipment and railway equipment.
He has also been an active member of several apex trade and industry bodies including the Confederation of Indian Industry’s National Council, where he has served as Chairman of its Agriculture Committee in the past years. He also played a pivotal role in promoting the cause of Indian Agriculture, and his endeavours resulted in the government announcing the long-awaited National Agriculture Policy.
In industry circles, Shri Rajan Nanda is nothing short of a legend, having been at the forefront of one of India’s largest engineering companies.
With Escorts being seen as a technology-driven organization introducing new products and technologies at every stage of its eventful journey, the country has over the years progressed by leaps and bounds, thanks to the pioneering initiatives of Shri Rajan Nanda.
An endearing personality, he continues to be a perpetual source of inspiration and strength to those who look up to him. Shri Nanda’s keen social awareness along with his ability to develop key relationships is widely acknowledged; and his wisdom coupled with his erudite skills enthrall audiences wherever he goes. As an embodiment of humility, he remains till date an extremely down to earth personality.
Mr. Nanda was also instrumental in setting up Escorts’ in-house research and development facility in Faridabad. Known as the Knowledge Management Centre, the facility houses more than 250 researchers who are engaged in creating innovative technology solutions for the discerning needs of today’s customers.
