REPORT: ICT Based Online STC on Advanced Instructional Methods for Teaching-Learning “(ICT-114) by School of Education MRU in association with NITTTR, Chandigarh 20-24 November, 2023
School of Education and Humanities, MRU, Faridabad was earmarked to be a Nodal centre for Short Term ICT Program on “ Advanced Instructional Methods for Teaching-Learning ” organized by NITTTR Chandigarh from 20th to 24th November 2023. The aim of this STC was to provide an opportunity to participants to understand the recent trends and developments in the field of Instructional methods which has become quintessential for teaching and learning. The total of 20 participants attended the STC in person at J block with full vigour and learnt the latest methodologies and tools related to instructional delivery and assessment.
Various experts from Academia as well as Practitioners in the field of Education delivered enriching sessions, the details are as follows:
Day I: The session started with the Introduction and functions of NITTTR by Er. Amandeep Kaur. She extended her session by sharing her knowledge on Active Learning while highlighting the principles of effective teaching, describing different cooperative and collaborating strategies which can be applied to cater different needs of leaners. The third session of the day was taken on developing skill on Writing Learning Outcomes. The foundation of outcomes are derive from program outcomes which further define through aims of course, course content, teaching strategies, etc.
Day II: The session was on Changing Learning Spaces & Various Cooperative Strategies by Er. Amandeep Kaur wherein the expert shared classroom is not only learning space it is extended to library, faculty office, cafes, field visits, excursions, etc. She also shared different cooperative strategies such as Fish Bowl method, Number Head together, Visioning and Futuring that can be used in teaching learning situation. The second session was taken Dr Shilpa Suri on Understanding Learner. She stated there has been a paradigm shift from in education “One suits fits all” to identify learning style and catering to them. She shared to identify catch and hold factors to retain students’ attention. The third session was on Creating e-Content, LMS, Moodle for Teaching-Learning by Expert Dr. Gaurav Kumar. He shared the functionality and features of MOODLE such as Blended course management, virtual attendance, evaluation tools, performance management, debates, group task, video conferencing, cloud development.
Day III: The session was on Blended Learning by Er. Amandeep Kaur in which expert shared about synchronous learning, asynchronous learning and club synchronous learning. The complex adaptive learning system was also discussed. The session was ended by sharing different Model of Blended learning like Rotation blended model, station rotation blended model, Lab Rotation Model and Individual Rotation Blended Model. The second session was taken on Project & Problem Based Learning by the expert Dr. Sunil Dutt wherein he stated it is instructional approach designed to give students the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills through engaging project set around challenges and problems. The third session was on Design Thinking by Dr Vaishali Sahu. The five principles of design thinking is Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Test.
Day IV: The session on NEP2020 Planning for Implementation was undertaken by Dr Meenakshi highlighting the key elements of NEP2020 that are academic flexibility, multidisciplinary approach, vocations, etc. The second session was taken by Dr Vidhu Mohan on Case Study, Brainstorming Method of teaching. She stated the infusion of these strategies in various academic disciplines to enhance the learning in diverse learners. The third session was taken by the expert Er. Gaurav Kumar on “Use of Online Evaluation Tools for Assessment.” The discussion and hands on training was given on various platforms such as Answergarden, Chatzy, COGGLE, Pollseverywhere, etc.
Day V: The session was on “Developing creativity among students” by Dr. Manjula Sularia, who is a life coach and qualify for Upcoming Entrepreneur this year award. She incorporated short activities to understand learner needs and focus more on the connection with your students. The last session of this FDP was on Design and development of ARVR integrated teach sessions taken by the expert Dr. Jagriti saini. She incorporated various videos during the session to provide edge on how the technology in various field has change the dynamics of teaching learning. Many holographics devices were discussed during the session.
