Manav Rachna Social Innovations- A Solution For All

A team of researchers from Manav Rachna Innovation and Incubation Centre (MRIIC) comprising Dr. B S Gill, Amit Kumar and Prachie Sharma have devised the revolutionary product “Pariyayantra” -an ‘Air Pollution Mitigation’ product that cleans atmospheric air through filters fitted on vehicles. Pariyayantra does not require any power to operate and is equivalent to the filtration provided by 6 room air filters. These are air filter units that can be mounted on the roof of any vehicle — buses, cars, auto-rickshaws and even two-wheelers.

Pariyayantra was formally flagged off by Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Hon’ble Minister for Science & Technology, Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Earth Sciences from the Paryavaran Bhawan, New Delhi in 2018.

Naturoplast is a venture by the students of Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, developed at Manav Rachna Innovation and Incubation Centre. This startup is initiated with an aim to minimize the pollution and its ill-effects due to plastic packaging. It also takes into consideration the use of underutilized natural resources so as to prevent its wastage. Nanowrap is one such product made from green banana. It is a biodegradable wrap of few metres long, having characteristic properties. It is an innovative product developed from the natural resources which are organic in nature. Being cost-effective, biodegradable and water soluble, Nanowrap has great value both in social and environmental system. 

Naturoplast won the third prize at AICTE-ECI-ISTE Chhatra Vishwakarma Awards 2018 under the theme ‘Empowerment of Villages through Technologies’. For More details: Click here

A team of researchers from Manav Rachna Innovation and Incubation Centre (MRIIC) designed a prototype of a low-cost portable emergency ventilator remotely to provide temporary oxygen supply for patients with emergency needs. Titled as ANSH, this E-Ventilator has an integrated mobile app that allows doctors to monitor the patient’s progress remotely. ANSH uses mechanical linear motion of the Rack and pinion gear mechanism making it the most simple and unique ventilator for the doctors to use in case of emergency. Doctors can control all necessary vital parameters through the app seamlessly and manual controls can be used to monitor automated controls. Team Caeli from Manav Rachna designed smart automated Anti-Pollution and Drug delivery mask specifically designed for patients that are suffering from asthma and other chronic respiratory conditions. Caeli implements features that will improve the quality of life for respiratory patients living in polluted areas. This breakthrough innovation ‘CAELI’; developed under the guidance of Mr. Umesh Dutta and team MRIIC, is the only Asian team that has garnered a spot in the 17th Microsoft Imagine Cup World Finals! The team has been awarded a prize of USD 15000 in the Asia Regional Finals held at Sydney, and an opportunity to meet legendary Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and whopping prize money of 40,000 USD in the World Finale.

Tricho Agronica Pvt. Ltd. is a start-up incubated at Manav Rachna campus by Biotechnology students and has been awarded a grant of Rs. 1.72 Cr for its novel, innovative and eco-friendly solution against fungal pathogens in Tomato cultivation. TRICHO AGRONICA Pvt. Ltd” has been setup under Indian Oil Start Up Scheme (IOSUS), a “Start-up India” initiative announced by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The start-up has manufactured Bioformulation which is effective against many fungal and bacterial diseases like early blight, late blight, Septoria leaf spot, Cercospora leaf spot, buckeye fruit rot and Alterneria fruit rot disease and enhance early flowering and fruiting in the tomato plant at lower doses of 4 and 6 ml per liter twice in one crop season.

Makershala (TechnoPlanet Lab Pvt. Ltd.), a startup incubated at Manav Rachna has designed a PPE Face Shield for Health Care Staff and frontline professionals involved in treating and monitoring of COVID-19 patients. The Face Shield developed by Makershala team remotely is very cost effective and can be produced at a much faster rate to meet the current demand. The face shield has been tested and reviewed by the medical team of Sarvodaya Hospital on the occasion of the World Health Day.

Keeping in view the condition COVID-19 has created, the emotional imbalance and depression is common among everyone amid this nationwide lockdown. To help citizens deal with their stress and emotions, SATHI (Support & Assistance through Telephonic Helpline for Individuals), a 24X7 helpline has been initiated.

SATHI is a mental health initiative under Dr. O P Bhalla Foundation in association with Dainik Jagran. A call to 9910314444 is routed to the seven seasoned mental health experts who are assisted by a very capable team of 20 psychology interns at Manav Rachna’s Faculty of Behavioral and Social Sciences. .
