Panel Discussion on the Russia-Ukraine Conflict: FBSS, MRIIRS
Department of Social and Political Studies, Faculty of Behavioral and Social Sciences in collaboration with the Strategic Policy Group and Hesperus Research and Development Organization hosted a Panel Discussion on the Russia-Ukraine Conflict.
The purpose of this panel discussion was to examine the implications of this geopolitical upheaval for a broader view of “International Security.” The theme of the event was “Russia – Ukraine Conflict : Challenges to International Security”.
The esteemed panelists included Amb. Vishnu Prakash, Former Indian Ambassador to South Korea; Brig. Arun Sahgal, South Asian Expert, Distinguished Fellow of Delhi Policy Group; Kinnari Doke, Founder of HRDO, Doctoral candidate of Florida University; Don Mclain Gill, Resident Fellow of International Development and Security Cooperation, Philippines; and Upamanyu Basu, Founder of SPG , Assistant Professor of Political Science, Department of Social and Political Studies, FBSS, MRIIRS.
Berly Omeeboh, Howard University, Washington, D.C was the moderator for the debate. Scholars from other universities, as well as all faculty members from the Faculty of Behavioral and Social Sciences, attended the event. The bone of contention was the diplomatic ramifications of this war, as well as how to evaluate the pattern of political elite actions that led to the current escalation. The panelists discussed a variety of topics related to the war, including wider issues of diplomacy, India’s role in the current situation, Southeast Asian supply chains, and civil strife inside Ukraine.
Dr. Anandajit Goswami, HoD, Department of Social and Political Studies, FBSS, MRIIRS, was also present during the ceremony. He provided a quick overview of how the present conflict will affect the global economy.
