Q.1  What all programs does the faculty offer and what is the duration and fee of the programs?

We offer three undergraduate, three postgraduate, one postgraduate diploma and two doctoral programs at Faculty of Behavioral and Social Sciences.

Q.2 What is the process of admission to the program?

Candidate needs to fill on-line form at our website www.mru.edu.in with the prescribed fee. After accepting the form university will intimate the candidate about the MRNAT examination date and place. After clearing the MRNAT candidate appears for the group discussion and personal interview. First preference will be given to MRNAT and second preference to marks in qualifying examination.

Q.3 What is the eligibility criteria, and selection process for the programs?

BA/BSc in Liberal Arts Minimum aggregate 50 % in class XII examination
 BA/B.Sc(Hons) in Economics Minimum aggregate 50 % in class XII examination
BA/BSc(Hons) in Applied Psychology Minimum aggregate 50 % in class XII examination
MA/M.Sc. in Economics Minimum aggregate 50 % at undergraduate level examination
MA/M.Sc in Applied Psychology Minimum aggregate 50 % at undergraduate level examination
Master of Social Work Minimum aggregate 50 % at undergraduate level examination

Q.4 Do we need to submit the original certificates on the day of admission?

There is no need to submit original certificates but candidate must produce original certificates/documents on the day of admission for their verifications, failing which candidate shall not be considered for admission. Two sets of self-attested copies of the certificates/documents are required to be submitted at the time of physical counseling. More details may be available in the admission brochure.

Q.6 What is the structure of FBSS

Under FBSS we have three departments.

  • Department of Applied Psychology: UG, PG and PhD Program
  • Department of Economics: UG, PG and PhD Program
  • Department of Social and Political Studies: At undergraduate level offers: Liberal Arts, Political Science, Sociology and at Postgraduate level: Masters in Public Policy and PhD Program in Social Work


Q.7 What are the career opportunities after getting degrees from FBSS?

FBSS offers discipline specific as well as interdisciplinary programs. The opportunities after obtaining the degrees from different disciplines are as follows:

Economics– Study of economics opens up career opportunities in both the government and private sectors. It provides ample scope and prestigious positions nationally and internationally. Well-trained economists are placed across the government sector including the Indian Economic Service and Reserve Bank of India Officer, corporate firms like TCS/IBM/HSBC and many more, research institutes (National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, National Council of Applied Economic Research, Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations, and several premier institutes in country under the Indian Council of Social Science Research), international development agencies (UN organizations and World Bank groups), non-governmental organizations, banking/financial sector and several academic institutions. In the job market, there is an increasing demand for economic analysts, researchers and consultants.

Psychology– The students have a successful careers in hospitals, clinical settings, working in school and colleges as counselors and also in corporate sectors as trainers and specialist in psychological assessments.

Social Work– It aims to develop critical insight among the students to apprise social issues. We intend to develop student’s personality through inculcation of democratic and humanitarian values.  The pedagogy is structured in a way that strike a balance between theoretical underpinning with concurrent field work in a social welfare organization. The Department offers placement and internship opportunity with all leading organizations from social sector.
